Constanta International Airport

Originally built as a military airbase in 1955 Constanta Airport also known Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport opened to civil aviation in 1960. It is the main airport of the Dobruja region popular for tourist destinations such as the Black Sea.

Between 2021 and 2023 EUR17.2m is to be invested into the upgrading of the airport's infrastructure bringing it in line with other European airports.

As part of the redevelopment contractors TIAB Infra, (sub-contractor for VINCI) were looking to upgrade the lighting on the civil side bringing it back up to current Annex 14 standards for airfield lighting.

The client had a very tight schedule and we were able to turn the whole project around from lighting design to delivery on-site in less than 8 weeks.

Results and Benefits

Working with our technical department on lighting and structural design, TIBA Infra replaced old fixed head masts with 5 x 18m, 12 x 27m raising and lowering masts complete with 24 x FL800R-4, 47 x FL800R-2, 31 x FL800R-1 LED floodlights, saving energy and decreasing maintenance costs.
