The P86x is the second product range in the last quarter to achieve this significant milestone, reaffirming our commitment to providing reliable, high-performing street lighting solutions for major highways and road projects across the UK.
P86: The Ultimate in Road Lighting Innovation
Launched in November 2016 at LuxLive, the P86 range, crowned "The King of the Road," is perhaps best known for its award-winning P862 luminaire, which took home the ‘Exterior Luminaire of the Year’ award at the renowned Lux Awards. The range was designed to provide a high-performing, energy-efficient, user-friendly, and ultra-safe lighting solution for highways, replacing traditional HID sources with advanced LED technology.
The P86 luminaires boast exceptional optical performance, advanced thermal management, and superior serviceability, making them the ideal solution for the most demanding road lighting requirements. With features like improved mesopic vision, advanced thermal management, and a range of optics for various applications, the P862 continues to lead the market in both performance and ease of installation.
Reaching a Major Milestone
As of October 2024, over 110,000 units of the P86 range have been sold, with an impressively low failure rate of just 0.034% – or 340 parts per million. This world-class performance has earned the range a reputation for reliability, with only 34 confirmed returns from the field to date. Remarkably, this is the second CU Phosco product range to hit the 100,000-unit milestone in the past quarter, following the E950 in August.
Matt Murray, Sales & Marketing Director, shared: “We’re thrilled to reach this significant milestone with the P86 range. Its success is a testament to the hard work and innovation that went into its design. The P862, in particular, has set new standards for what can be achieved in road lighting, offering unparalleled efficiency, durability, and serviceability.”
A Proven Track Record
The P86 range has been successfully deployed in a wide range of high-profile projects, including major traffic routes across Kent County, the M6 Toll Midland Expressway (the site of its first installation in April 2017), and large National Highways schemes on the M25, M1, M5, M6, M62, M42, and M49, among others.
Designed for optimal longevity, ease of installation, and future-proofing, the P862 excels in optical performance, thermal management, and serviceability. It offers a wide range of options, from neutral white (4000K) to warm white (3000K), and boasts a contractor-friendly, lightweight design, low windage, and full compliance with ETL guidelines for White Light Emitting Diode Lighting Units.
Looking Ahead
With its commitment to delivering high-quality, energy-efficient lighting solutions, CU Phosco is poised to continue its leadership in the exterior lighting highways sector. The success of the P86 range is a testament to this dedication, and the company looks forward to celebrating many more milestones in the future.
