The HEA/HEMSA Awards 2025 were truly a huge success for CU Phosco, where we were delighted to have come away with 3 major honours: HEA/HEMSA Organisation of the Year - Large, Employee of the Year (awarded to Clare Saggs, IT Administrator), and Trainee/Apprentice of the Year (awarded to Ollie Langham). Following the unforgettable night, we had a catch up with Ollie Lamgham, our HEA Trainee/Apprentice of the Year 2025, to hear how he’s feeling in the aftermath of such an event.
HI OLLIE - CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN ON YOUR WIN AS APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR 2025 AT THE HEA AWARDS! HOW DOES IT FEEL?
I feel really honoured to be named Apprentice of the Year. It’s a great feeling to know that the hard work I’ve put in over the last few years has been recognised. Receiving an award like this motivates me even more to keep learning, improving, and pushing myself in my role.
COULD YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR ROLE AND WHAT YOU DO?
I’m a highway electrical apprentice, I have been at the company since 2022, and I love to get stuck in on all the jobs that I’m involved in. The jobs vary week to week - one week could be very hands on, and I may be helping with installations– and the next week could be focused on maintenance jobs, inspecting and making sure everything is running safely and correctly.
WHO WAS THE FIRST PERSON THAT YOU TOLD?
Once I had received the award, I sent a photo into my family group chat and shared the good news. They’ve supported me from the start of my apprenticeship, so it felt right to let them know straight away. Their reaction made the moment even better - they were all really proud, which meant a lot.
HOW DID YOU CELEBRATE?
I celebrated with a nice drink on the evening and then treated myself to a trip to the boxing on the Saturday evening. It was the perfect way to unwind after such an exciting day.
Thank you, Ollie, for taking the time to speak with us and a huge congratulations from the entire CU Phosco team – a truly deserved recognition of your hard work.
