Fresh off an unforgettable evening at the HEA Awards 2025, where CU Phosco secured three major honours, we met with Sales and Marketing Director, Matt Murray, to hear his reflections on the wins and the team effort behind them.
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THE TEAM, MATT! YOU MUST BE DELIGHTED! TELL US WHAT ALL OF THE AWARDS MEAN TO YOU
Winning any HEA or HEA HEMSA award is a fantastic achievement. However, this year’s hat-trick is a very proud moment for all of us at CU Phosco. This typifies the culture at CU Phosco, two incredible individuals winning their awards and the business winning HEA/HEMSA Organisation of the Year 2025 - Large, is a big one! Amazing really.
CU PHOSCO HAS WON THE “HEA/HEMSA ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR – LARGE” A STAGGERING EIGHT TIMES! HOW DOES IT FEEL?
It’s overwhelming, our ethos is built on agility, flexibility, service and quality. As a smaller business in this category, it is a huge achievement and one we have been rewarded on eight occasions now, in the last 11 years. Clearly, we are doing something right, especially as this award is voted by industry attendees to the HEA A.C.E. on the day. Very proud to have won this again.
WHY DO YOU THINK THE MEMBERS VOTED FOR US?
Our friendly, transparent, and honest approach is inherited throughout our family business. The customer journey and experience are vital to us. Winning it eight times shows we are consistently performing and always looking to improve. Without our people and products this would not be possible, from the warehouse staff to the executives we all play a big part as a family team
WHAT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES DO CU PHOSCO OFFER TO EXCEED THE CUSTOMER NEED?
I believe it’s a combination of our product portfolio and our agility to react to customers needs. We are one of a few manufacturers around the world that offer the structural and luminaire combination. This with our innovative approach to the telecoms market, gives us a great product variety for many industries. To add even more value to our offering, we have a world-renowned High Mast installation and maintenance division.
WE WERE ALSO NOMINEES FOR CONNECTED URBAN (PRODUCT OF THE YEAR) AND THE VICTORY MONUMENT, BANGKOK (PROJECT OF THE YEAR). SADLY, WE DIDN’T WIN THIS TIME HOWEVER TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT THE PROJECTS AND WHY THEY WERE NOMINATED
Connected Urban is a recent new addition to our product portfolio, and it offers the end user to utilise existing lighting points with added 5G on street network, with no more clutter than an existing lighting column. This product in its infancy has already been adopted by several Network operators as well as Local Authorities. Keep an eye out, it will be on a street near you soon.
Victory Monument highlights our strength overseas and typifies our ability to be successful through our large Agent network, globally. The project was a prestige project in the centre of Bangkok, giving the industry a taste of our expertise on foreign shores.
FINALLY, WITH EMPLOYEE RECOGNITIONS FOR CLARE SAGGS, IT ADMINISTRATOR, (EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2025) AND OLLIE LANGHAM, (TRAINEE/APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR) ARE A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. WHAT MAKES OUR PEOPLE AND CU PHOSCO DIFFERENT?
Well, what can I say. Our nominations for any employee award are not proposed by the Senior Management but by fellow colleagues, again part of our culture.
Clare’s award is in recognition of the years of IT support to everyone in the company. Her, pleasant and calm personality has helped many a stressed work colleague resolves their issues. Clare has implemented 3 Systems in her time at CU Phosco, and her fellow colleagues felt it was a fitting tribute to her fantastic work ethic, that she was nominated. Clare, winning for us was an absolute joy!
As for Ollie’s award, congratulations to him, this is a testament of our commitment to the future of our business. Ollie was nominated by one of his mentors and he has given us great encouragement to expand our apprenticeship programme, in our Contracting division. It doesn’t stop there; we have now several apprentices throughout the business. Well done Ollie and we look forward to your next award as a fully qualified electrician.
Thanks so much, Matt. And a massive congratulations to Clare, Ollie and the whole CU Phosco team. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
