CU Phosco is launching its latest service innovation — Supamole, a trenchless directional drilling system that's set to transform how underground ducts are installed in urban environments.
More information will be available at the HEA Annual Conference and Exhibition on 13 November 2025, where CU Phosco will showcase how Supamole can minimise disruption, reduce environmental impact, and add a new dimension to its services for contractors, local authorities, and infrastructure providers.
“Supamole is a smart solution for complex environments,” said Andy Kay at CU Phosco . “It allows us to install underground ducts quickly and efficiently, without the need for open-cut trenches, heavy machinery, or major surface restoration. It’s safer, greener, and more cost-effective, especially in built-up or sensitive areas.”
WHAT IS SUPAMOLE?
Supamole is CU Phosco’s new trenchless directional drilling system, engineered for use in busy or sensitive areas where traditional excavation would cause delays, safety risks, or costly reinstatement.
By creating a guided borehole between small entry and exit pits, Supamole enables underground ducts to be pulled through soil, clay, or rock, avoiding roads, utilities, waterways, and other obstacles. It’s ideally suited for lighting and communications infrastructure projects that require fast, precise underground installations.
KEY BENEFITS OF SUPAMOLE:
- MINIMAL DISRUPTION: No need to excavate roads, pavements, or landscaped areas
- LOW ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Protects habitats and avoids erosion
- IMPROVED SAFETY: No open trenches, fewer risks for workers and the public
- COST EFFECTIVE: Lower overall project costs through reduced restoration and faster installs
- FASTER DELIVERY: Shorter timelines and fewer delays in urban or complex environments
Whether crossing highways, rail lines, or heavily trafficked city streets, Supamole enables CU Phosco to deliver smarter, cleaner, and more efficient underground installations.
