We continue our Meet the Team series by introducing Stuart Watson, who works in the Warehouse at our Ware facility in Hertfordshire.
HI STUART! WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE ENTAIL?
I started at CU Phosco in 2013 in the Drill Shop under Andy, who has now left the company, drilling castings and operating the CNC machine. In the afternoons, I swapped to the Stores with Mark Thompson, Warehouse Supervisor, who taught me everything he knows about the role. I took more interest in the Stores side and eventually transitioned there full time.
My main responsibilities in the Stores department include picking parts for production to build lanterns, receiving deliveries from couriers, and unloading lorries with the forklift. I also help count stock to keep levels accurate, handle the yearly stock count, and cover packing duties when Adam from Packing is on holiday.
Recently, I’ve taken on a few additional roles: I became a First Aid Responder in November, a Racking Inspector maintaining and repairing our racking systems, and a Fire Warden. Every day brings something new, which keeps things interesting!
WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOU JOINED CU PHOSCO?
I worked as a Print Finishing machine cleaner and repairer.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
Every day is different, with new challenges to tackle. Whether it’s helping production staff or solving issues in the EFACS operating system. I really enjoy fixing problems and going the extra mile to help jobs run more smoothly.
WHAT DOES CU PHOSCO MEAN TO YOU?
Family. Everyone looks out for each other, and I’ve made friends who share my interests.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I love cooking most evenings for my partner and sharing her passion for her horse, Rogue. I enjoy walking him on weekends and helping care for him. In my free time, I also like gaming on my PC or cheering (and occasionally shouting) at the TV while watching Tottenham Hotspur, a team I’ve supported all my life.
Thanks so much, Stuart!
