Our Meet the Team series continues - this time, we’re catching up with Steve Gibson, Production Manager at our Westgate facility. At CU Phosco, people are at the heart of everything we do. This series shines a spotlight on our dedicated, forward-thinking colleagues like Steve, who help drive our success every day.
WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE ENTAIL?
“As production Manager at Westgate, I make sure all the jobs that come in are processed through the factory and go out to the customer on time. I make sure we have all the material and parts for the jobs we have going through, whilst making sure all the lads on the shopfloor are ok and know what they are doing and working on. I also liaise with customers and other Phosco sites on orders.”
WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOU JOINED CU PHOSCO?
“At the age of 16 I got an apprenticeship in fabrication and welding; I have been a fabricator/welder all my life and joined Phosco in 2005 as one. I then spent 12 years on the shopfloor at Westgate, and in 2018 I made the move upstairs to the office as Production manager.”
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
“I enjoy the satisfaction of getting a new job and being able to see it through all the processes and finally seeing it leave the works as a finished product.”
WHAT DOES CU PHOSCO MEAN TO YOU?
“Phosco is like an extended family for me. I have worked with a lot of the lads on the shop floor for over 20 years and have good friendships with them.”
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
“My main passion is travel. My wife and I love travelling to the most exotic parts of the world – we currently have Thailand and Goa booked for next year. I love going to watch my nephew play rugby league for Batley Bulldogs and I also have a keen interest in cycling and going to watch musical theatre.”
We’re proud to have dedicated team members like Steve, whose passion and commitment help drive CU Phosco forward every day.
