Welcome back to Meet the Team series, where we go behind the scenes with the talented people behind our work. This time, we’re catching up with Laszlo, Lead Structural Engineer who joined C.U. Phosco in 2018.
HI LASZLO, PLEASE CAN YOU TELL US WHAT YOUR ROLE INVOLVES?
“As Lead Structural Engineer, I’m responsible for structural design, calculations, technical governance and product development across exterior lighting, telecommunications infrastructure and other multi-purpose structures.
I also support colleagues across the business, offering guidance and expertise when engineering challenges come up.
Over the years I’ve been involved in new product development, including introducing design tools and procedures that help us bring innovative solutions to market.”
WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE JOINING C.U. PHOSCO?
“After graduating with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2009, I spent almost a decade working in civil and structural engineering. I worked on a wide variety of projects, which gave me the technical foundation I still rely on today. Joining C.U. Phosco has allowed me to apply that experience in a specialist field while continuing to develop professionally.”
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR ROLE?
“One of the things that I enjoy most about C.U. Phosco is the variety and problem-solving, and that no project is the same. Each brings a different challenge, whether that’s product development, finding a solution to a complex engineering problem, or going the extra mile to support a customer requirement. No two days are ever quite the same, which keeps the role interesting.
The projects I enjoy most are usually the ones that don't have an obvious answer to. They often require a combination of engineering judgement, practical experience and a bit of creativity.”
WHAT DOES C.U. PHOSCO MEAN TO YOU?
“C.U. Phosco has played a significant role in the development of my professional journey. I first joined as a Civil Engineer and have since progressed to Lead Structural Engineer, achieving Chartered Engineer status along the way. I've had the opportunity to work with great colleagues, contribute to some innovative projects and continually develop both professionally and personally.”
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY OUTSIDE OF WORK?
“Perhaps (and unsurprisingly for a Structural Engineer), I’m an engineer at heart outside of work too. I enjoy designing and building 3D printers, 3D modelling and taking on my own engineering projects.
I’ve always been fascinated by how things work, whether that’s electronics, mechanics or anything with an engine. Outside of engineering, I love motorcycling, travelling and finding new technical challenges to get stuck into.”
At C.U. Phosco, we’re proud to have people like Laszlo in our team, not only for their technical skill and dedication to excellence, but for the passion that they bring to everything they do.
Thank you Laszlo.
