CU Phosco Australia, an associated company of CU Phosco, the leading UK-based designer and manufacturer of outdoor lighting equipment, is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a significant contract with Ausgrid to deliver their FL820 floodlights.
The project involves upgrading floodlights on Ausgrid assets across the region with energy-efficient LEDs and where appropriate enabling them with smart controls. These upgrades are designed to enhance energy efficiency, improve maintenance operations, and accommodate future smart city technologies. The new floodlights equipped with smart controls will help detect faults, optimise maintenance schedules, measure energy usage, and enable off-peak dimming, potentially leading to further energy savings.
Keith Henry, CU Phosco Australia's General Manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "This is a great win for CU Phosco, and we are proud to play a part in this extensive project. We are delighted to have secured work with Ausgrid for their floodlighting upgrade program and look forward to continuing our partnership. This contract win underscores our commitment to providing high-quality lighting solutions to the Australian market while solidifying our position as a key player in these markets."
The benefits of the complete upgrade project are substantial, in terms of maintenance and the reduction in the total energy consumption of its managed floodlights. What's more, Ausgrid have the potential to further reduce energy consumption through the implementation of off-peak dimming in the coming years, opening up even more possibilities for future energy savings.
Jiri Heider, Council Manager – Lighting and Smart Solutions, remarked,. “This project will yield many positive benefits for the environment and local economies. We are achieving significant savings while simultaneously improving the lighting for our customers, making our roads safer, and dramatically cutting energy consumption."
Australia presents immense growth potential for LED lighting, with a significant portion of the country's 2.3 million streetlights ripe for modernisation.
