As we continue our the Meet the Team series, we shine a light on Gordon Baglin, Side Loader Driver from our Coleford factory who, in July 2026, is celebrating an incredible 40-year milestone at C.U. Phosco.
Joining the team in 1986, Gordon began his career at C.U. Phosco as a concrete maker, producing columns, bridges, and pontoons. Over the years, he progressed through a variety of roles, including finishing and rigging, before becoming a Side Loader Driver.
CONGRATULATIONS, GORDON! 40 YEARS IS A HUGE ACHIEVEMENT, BEFORE WE JUMP INTO YOUR C.U. PHOSCO JOURNEY, TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CAREER BEFORE JOINING US
“Before joining C.U. Phosco I worked at a stone firm and local sawmill.”
WHAT DOES YOUR CURRENT ROLE ENTAIL?
“As a Side Loader driver, I’m responsible for offloading steel when it arrives at the factory and allocating it to different areas around the yard. I take steel into the factory at the production end and, once production is complete, I load the welded columns onto the lorries to be taken for galvanising.
Once the galvanised columns return, I work with two other drivers to unload the finished products.”
HOW HAS THE COMPANY CHANGED SINCE YOU JOINED?
“The company has moved with the times, from concrete to steel, along with the introduction of LED lanterns and Connected Urban. Over the years, there has also been an increased employment of female staff members, too”.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT WORKING AT C.U. PHOSCO?
“I like the friendships and banter of the workforce. It’s the best company I’ve worked for!”
Thanks Gordon. Huge congratulations on a tremendous milestone and thank you for all your hard work!
At C.U. Phosco, our values shape every part of the business, with people at its heart. We pride ourselves on a positive workplace culture, prioritising well-being, growth and teamwork; a key to our success.
