As part of our ongoing series celebrating long-serving colleagues, we sat down with Cheryl Jordan, our Sales Office Supervisor, based in our Head Office in Ware, Hertfordshire. Cheryl joined the team on 22 January 2001.
CONGRATULATIONS, CHERYL! 25 YEARS IS REALLY A HUGE ACHIEVEMENT, BEFORE WE JUMP IN TO YOUR C.U. PHOSCO JOURNEY – TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CAREER BEFORE JOINING US
“Before joining CU Phosco, I was a stay-at-home mum caring for my two young children - Lauren, who was six, and Harry, who was just a year old. Prior to starting a family, I had worked in various administration roles at Lancaster Mercedes Garage, McMullens Brewery, and Bridge Travel.”
WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE ENTAIL?
“As Sales Office Supervisor, I am responsible for overseeing the Sales Desk and Reception teams and addressing any concerns they may have. In my day-to-day role, I review customer orders, handle incoming enquiries, and prepare quotations for customers. I also liaise closely with external Area Sales Managers, National and Key Accounts Managers, and factories to ensure we consistently deliver the highest level of service.”
HOW HAS THE COMPANY CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST JOINED?
“It’s changed a great deal since I first started, with long-standing chairmen and directors retiring and the next generation of leaders stepping in. During this time, we’ve transitioned from traditional HID lanterns to modern LED products, which represented a major shift for the business and required us to learn an entirely new range of technologies and equipment.”
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT WORKING FOR C.U. PHOSCO?
“I genuinely enjoy working for CU Phosco because it feels very much like being part of a close-knit community. There is always someone willing to lend a hand whenever support is needed, and that sense of teamwork makes a real difference day-to-day. What I appreciate most is that you’re treated as an individual rather than just a number - people take the time to get to know you, value your contribution, and make you feel truly included.”
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
“I enjoy spending quality time with my family, going on holidays or taking short weekend breaks. I also try to keep myself fit and healthy, and I now swim three to four times a week as well as make time for regular walks. I love getting out and socialising with friends, and I love to go shopping.”
AND FINALLY, DO YOU HAVE ANY FOND MEMORIES OF YOUR TIME HERE SO FAR?
“I have so many fond memories from my time here, and I’ve made some wonderful friends who I know will be part of my life for years to come. One of the moments I remember most fondly is when my good friend Jacqui and I dressed up as elves and spent the day prancing around the office like a pair of excited children - it still makes me smile whenever I think about it.”
