CU Lighting have cemented their relationship with the Forest of Dean by the sponsorship of Broadwell AFC based near CU Lighting's manufacturing plant in Broadwell, Coleford.
The company have purchased the first team squad black Puma tracksuits which will be worn to all home and away competitive matches. Broadwell AFC's club badge features on the front of the tracksuit top, with CU Lighting in large white lettering on the back.
Broadwell AFC play in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League, Division 1, finishing in fourth position this season and wining the Senior North County Cup, defeating Shortwood Reserves 2 - 0 at Slimbridge on 23rd April 2009.
Broadwell AFC wore their new tracksuits for the first time to the County Cup Final, adding an element of professionalism to he team for the night.
Broadwell AFC have 2 senior teams, the second playing in the North Gloucestershire Premier Division of which 70% of the team are under 18 years old. An under 11 side also play at the Hawthorns in the Gloucestershire Youth League, all their games are played on a Sunday afternoon. The club supports the older members of the community by providing free bingo sessions in the club house twice a week, and free use of the clubs minibus for a once a month dinner club.
Ambitions are set high by a young and energetic committee. Phase of an ambitious plan has been completed by providing the players with one of te best playing surfaces in the Forest of Dean area. Phase 2 is the building of new changing quarters to Southern League standards.
To date Broadwell AFC have acheived all their goals without the of GFA or Local Council Grants, highlighting how important it is to substain local sponsorship so we can direct our spare income to improving the clubs facilities.
