Stage 1  Product Performance Specification.

We can assist with defining the technical specification against which a customer would like to procure the products.  This will take into account the latest legal requirements, British European and as appropriate international standards, codes of practice and guidance documents as well as any customer specific performance requirements.

Stage 2  Lighting Design Service

By providing either a paper or digital drawing, and a minimum lighting level specification, CU Phosco Lighting is able to provide a free design service for lighting schemes.  Schemes can be specified to comply with any lighting specification.  Advice is available on what specifications would be appropriate for the customer’s requirements.

Stage 3  Product Design Service

There are four different levels of product design.

  1. Standard Products
We can select an appropriate existing product design either from our standard product catalogue or from our portfolio of past special product developments.
  2. Special (modified standard) Product
We can take one of our existing products and undertake product modifications, for example to include additional brackets for hanging baskets or Christmas decorations on lighting columns.
  3. Developed Product
Based on our standard design approach we can develop an existing product into a new application, for example taking standard lighting column technology and applying it to wind turbine masts.
  4. New Product
We can provide a full new product development process where a customer requires a bespoke solution to his particular requirements.

With all these developments, we can maintain the low cost of production by working within our existing manufacturing capabilities passing on to our customers the benefits from economies of scale and scope.

Stage 4  Product Manufacture

Manufacture of our products is split between three sites in the UK. In Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, we produce high masts and other folded sheet steel products; in Coleford, Forest of Dean, we produce parallel sided and tapered tubular column products, while at our head office premises in Ware, Hertfordshire, we produce lanterns and floodlights.  At Ware we also have access to the laser cutting, folding and welding facilities of our associate company, Birch Engineering, who manufacture special projects such as sculptures and one-off column designs, as well as providing prototyping facilities.

Stage 5  Assembly and Installation Service

Our Service Division provides an unmatched level of expertise in a specialist area of exterior lighting contracting. This ranges from simple assembling and erecting of high masts or hinging columns through to turn-key solutions including, the additional services for construction planning, groundworks, power supply and control systems installation, commissioning and testing.  The benefits to the customer are through the minimisation of risk by employing a contractor who is expert both in the erection of the high mast steelwork and in the electrical connection and aiming of the floodlights or luminaires.  It is worth asking your tendering contractors how many high mast installation projects they carry out each year.

Stage 6  Maintenance Service

Once an installation is commissioned and tested, we are sure you will be satisfied with the performance of the products.  However, to maximise the long term performance of the installation, we recommend inspection and maintenance is scheduled and carried out.  Typically our Service Division maintenance teams would visit every one to five years, depending on the type of products and performance levels required from the scheme.  In addition, we undertake the annual testing and recertification of raising and lowering equipment in accordance with the LOLAR Regulations.

Stage 7  Demolition and Removal

Demolition and Removal of existing lighting equipment can be arranged as part of any replacement lighting scheme, with equipment being disposed of in full accordance with WEEE Regulations.

Customers purchasing our products can select any or all of these above services to assist them in achieving the best possible scheme to suit their requirements.
